When we started this website, we did so with two main problems that we thought needed solving.
Problem 1: People think event planning is some fantasy that belongs to another world.
If you read wedding magazines, search party planning sites, or follow any of the event planning blogs, you might think that most events involve a lot of money, a lot of time, and a lot of friends who have crazy decorating / baking / artistic / musical skills that want nothing more than to donate those skills to your cause.
For most people, that simply is not the real world.
We have jobs because we don’t have unlimited funds. Those jobs also mean that we don’t have unlimited time. And the friends with the crazy skills? Yes, they generally have jobs, too, which also means no time or money to create a masterpiece for your event.
So, what are we to do when we want to plan an event?
That is where, hopefully, this site comes into the picture. We want to share with people the basics of event planning while also highlighting all the things you can do to save time and money. You do not have to break the bank to throw a party, and you do not have to spend hours you don’t have planning it. It’s okay. We can help.
Which leads us to the next problem…
Problem 2: There is a lack of inclusiveness and diversity in most event planning resources today.
Do you know how little information there is on planning a gay wedding? A baby shower for the father-to-be? Eastern religious holidays, promotions, divorces, etc.? The majority of information out there involves traditional weddings, showers, children’s birthdays, and sports events. That is great if you fall into any of those categories. What about all the people that fall outside of those categories?
No matter from where you are coming or where you are going, everyone is welcome here.
Life’s celebrations take on many forms, and we love all of them. We choose to openly support and provide information on all events, regardless of their source or purpose. We welcome all races, religions, cultures, genders, etc.
NOTE: The exception to the above is that we do not tolerate hate in any form. We will not promote, support, or endorse any theme, site, product, or author that uses hate as its vehicle. Period. This is the one rule that we will not break or even bend. If you see something that contradicts this, please let us know and we will be happy to address your concern.
There you have it! We want to show you that parties can be affordable, quick, and applicable to everyone. So, yes, you can totally do this.
We’re so happy you could join us in this adventure down the event planning rabbit hole. We have magic and stories waiting for us. 🙂
Best,
Courtney, aka Alice
